He climbs the stairs when I'm not there
Forcing my heartbeat to race
My hands get clammy and my grip is getting tighter

One year of my life slips away when I worry
He reached the top of the stairs when I didn’t look

I get so flustered when I watch
I try my hardest not to budge
But just the thought of me without him hurts my heart

I tried my best to make him stay
I even tripped him down the stairs
But his imagination still runs wild to this day

I get so scared that he might find
His way into my mind
So I must build these stairs to keep him from ever getting there

Don’t walk here anymore

It took me years to get to here
And I won’t walk backwards again
I might fall down the stairs and then be forced to stay there
